THE HERSONS
A Family Wine
The proprietors of Herson Family Vineyards are a husband and wife team of Washington, D.C. lobbyists - one is a Democrat and the other is a Republican. The wines are named as odes to their profession. The Chardonnay is named Influence, the Cabernet Sauvignon is named Persuasion, and the Merlot is named Access. In an era where big name Napa Valley winemakers are taking on dozens of projects at a time, the Herson Family is fortunate to have one of Napa's top winemakers who refuses to take on more than a handful of projects so he can give them his full and undivided attention and care.
Herson Family wines are made in small quantities. Create a special occasion by choosing to open a bottle.
About the Wine Maker: Robert Foley
Robert (Bob) Foley began his wine making career in the Napa Valley in 1977, having just graduated from UC Davis with degrees in both Viticulture and Enology. He spent his first year working for Heitz Cellars, followed by 15 years as the founding winemaker for Markham Vineyards.
In 1992, Bob began another 15 years as the founding winemaker for Pride Mountain Vineyards. During this period, he also created the highly acclaimed Switchback Ridge, Hourglass, Paloma, and School House wines. He now focuses mostly on Robert Foley Vineyards wines, but also creates the offerings from Engel Family, Padis Vineyards, and Shelter in the Napa Valley.
When Bob's not making wine, he spends time with his wife (and RFV's business manager) Kelly Kehoe, and his children and granddaughters. You can also find him singing and playing guitar in The Robert Foley Band or SCUBA diving.
